Geo-Caching with Dad

June 2009Saturday 20 June 2009
9:00 AM - 12 noon

Sons and daughters and dads of every age are welcome to spend the Saturday before Father's Day at Sacred Rocks Reserve Geo-Caching with Dad!

We had such a great time at the Geocaching Easter Egg Hunt in April that we're offering another event for beginner and experienced geocachers. Geocaching is a fun way to spend time by yourself or with your loved ones in the great outdoors.

"Geocaching is an outdoor treasure-hunting game in which the participants use a Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver or other navigational techniques to hide and seek containers (called 'geocaches' or 'caches') anywhere in the world. A typical cache is a small waterproof container containing a logbook and 'treasure', usually toys or trinkets of little value." (from the Wikipedia entry)

From 9:00 AM to 12 noon, our 3-hour Geocaching with Dad hunt should give everyone ample time to find our 6 caches. Great fun for kids and adults! You'll need a GPS receiver or something like iPhone that has one built in.

Arrive early at 8:30 AM for a half-hour beginner's class on using your GPS device to find a geocache.

Break for lunch at noon, then stay a little longer for the Horseshoe Tournament from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.
